With a doctorate in science & technology studies from Virginia Tech and advanced degrees in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities, Dr. Hauger has thirty years’ experience in interdisciplinary research, research administration, and science and technology policy, including service in the academic, non-profit, and private sectors. He has served as principal investigator on R&D and analytical projects totaling more than $30 million. He founded and was CEO of a successful, small business research and analysis firm. He has organized and directed collaborative science and policy programs at the national and international levels. In addition to this consulting practice, Dr. Hauger serves as Executive Director of the Global Collaboratory for Drylands and the City and as President of Techné: A Collaboratory for the Applied Philosophy and Social Studies of Science.
